Road Diary 08/12/22 - Toronto, ON

Imagine the way you are and imagine the way that is perceived when someone else sees you, a mirror turned to glass and suddenly there’s no reflection, just the world passing, and you’re there and unimportant and just an object in your winter coat and wool hat that your partner gave you.

Do you touch your face too much? Or glance away and appear preoccupied? Do you get caught in a moment of distraction or is your sense of curiosity transparent?

Their eye crinkles at the edge, cut steel and glass shimmers out the window, and you wonder what they’re thinking. And it doesn’t matter. And you don’t matter. And they move on to other things, like talking heads on holographic displays, capital raises, and braiding bread for tomorrow’s dinner. Everything you imagine someone else might do, in their own world.
