Road Diary 21/01/23 - Comox, BC

To step into a new place and know memories will be acquired here without awareness of what. To exist stunned and ungrounded for a week in that kind of vacancy, the projection of all of this being familiar when it is still not quite real.

To unpack possessions. Open the envelope of time that is the past spilling out of boxes onto this floor that is yours and still unfamiliar. Perhaps here is where I will make coffee once I have the means to make coffee. Perhaps I will use this cup.

To look upon a view out a window and see it as ritual while remaining stunned. To whisper knowing gratitudes and to remain unsettled.

The used to and familiar will come, inevitable and silent. One morning waking with deeply rooted comfort. A friend stops by. The view is not startling and timeless anymore, but just today. The past has let go, and the future settled.
